NECO Releases 2026 BECE Results, Announces Dates for Re-sit Examination

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), bringing an end to the wait for thousands of Junior Secondary School (JSS3) candidates across Nigeria.
The results were approved for release after the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the Council's headquarters in Minna, Niger State. Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, secondary school principals, and members of NECO's management were present during the meeting, where the examination process and result compilation were reviewed and endorsed.
According to NECO, a total of 186,291 candidates from the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and five foreign countries registered and participated in the 2026 BECE. The examination, which covered 12 subjects, was conducted between April 20 and April 30, 2026.
Re-sit Examination Scheduled
To give eligible candidates another opportunity to meet the requirements for admission into Senior Secondary School (SSS1), the BECE Award Committee also approved a re-sit examination.
The re-sit examination will hold on July 22 and 23, 2026, and is specifically for candidates with conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects. This initiative is aimed at helping affected students obtain the necessary qualifications without waiting for another examination cycle.
How to Check the 2026 NECO BECE Result
Candidates can check their BECE results through the official NECO results portal by following these steps:
1. Visit the official NECO results checking portal.
2. Select BECE as the examination type.
3. Choose 2026 as the examination year.
4. Enter your registration number and result-checking token.
5. Click "Check Result" to view your performance.
Candidates who do not have a result-checking token can purchase one through NECO's official platform.
