JAMB Releases 279 UTME Results Previously Held for Investigation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released 279 UTME results that were previously withheld for investigation following the conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The announcement was made public by JAMB’s spokesperson and Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., who explained that the released results are part of the Board’s ongoing review of cases linked to suspected examination malpractice and irregularities during the examination exercise.

According to Fabian Benjamin, the newly released results are in addition to the results earlier released by the Board after the nationwide UTME. He stated that JAMB has continued to carefully scrutinize reports from its monitoring teams and other security channels to ensure that only credible results are approved and released to candidates.

He explained that while some results have now been released after investigations showed no prima facie case against the affected candidates, other results have been outrightly cancelled where sufficient evidence of examination malpractice was established.

Fabian Benjamin further disclosed that some results are still being withheld because investigations are ongoing in centres where suspicious activities were allegedly observed by JAMB’s live monitoring officials during the examination period. He added that adverse reports received from certain centres are also being carefully reviewed by the Board before final decisions are made.

According to him, JAMB remains committed to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME examination process and will continue to take strict action against any form of examination malpractice or misconduct.

He noted that any candidate or centre found culpable after the completion of investigations would face appropriate sanctions in line with JAMB regulations and examination guidelines.

Candidates whose results have not yet been released have been advised not to panic but to continue checking their status through JAMB’s approved result-checking channels.

To check released results, candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during UTME registration. Candidates are also advised to ensure they have sufficient airtime before sending the message.

The latest development comes as many admission seekers across Nigeria continue to monitor updates regarding university admissions, Post UTME screening exercises, and the 2026/2027 academic session.

Parents and candidates have also been urged to rely only on verified information released by JAMB and other official education authorities to avoid falling victim to false reports, scams, or misinformation circulating online.

Fabian Benjamin reaffirmed that the Board would continue to uphold fairness, transparency, and credibility in all stages of the admission process while ensuring that innocent candidates are not unjustly penalized.
