BREAKING: JAMB Gives 2-Week Deadline to Accept Admission on CAPS 2026
Posted: Mon May 11 2026
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved a two-week deadline for candidates to accept admission offers into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The decision was announced during the ongoing 2026 Admission Policy Meeting in Abuja as part of new measures aimed at streamlining and accelerating the admission process.
What This Means for 2026 Candidates
Check CAPS daily: Log into your JAMB CAPS portal every day once schools start giving admission.
2 weeks only: You now have just 14 days from when JAMB approves your admission to click "Accept".
Auto-reversal: If you miss the deadline, JAMB will cancel your admission and give your slot to someone on the waiting list.
No second chance: Once reversed, you go back to the market with a tag that you rejected admission before. This may affect future offers.
The Board emphasized the need for candidates to regularly monitor their CAPS portal and respond promptly to admission offers to avoid losing placement opportunities.
